FAQs

What can I trade in?

Bring in any suitcase, from any brand, in any condition. We’ll accept suitcases that are carry-on size or larger and have wheels. Whether it’s been around the world or is simply ready for retirement, we’ll take care of it from there.

Does my suitcase need to be in good condition?

Not at all. We’ll accept suitcases in almost any condition—including cracked shells, broken wheels, and missing handles.

 

The only exceptions are luggage with pests, a strong odor, or a biohazard. Our store team will make the final call on whether a bag can be accepted.

How much will I receive for my trade-in?

You’ll receive $100 toward a qualifying luggage purchase of $325 or more during your trade-in appointment. One $100 credit is available per qualifying purchase.

Can I trade in more than one suitcase?

Each appointment allows you to trade in one eligible suitcase. If you’d like to trade in another suitcase, you’ll need to book a separate appointment.

What if I don't have an appointment?

Appointments are required and availability is limited, but if you’re nearby and don’t have an RSVP, check with your local store team when you arrive. They’ll let you know if they’re able to accommodate you.

Can I use my $100 credit online?

The Trade-In Event is in-store only, but you can use your $100 credit toward an in-store order for an item that’s available to purchase online. Our team can help you place the order during your visit.

Can I come back later and use my $100?

The credit is for your trade-in visit, so it must be applied to your new qualifying purchase at the time of your appointment. It can't be saved for a future visit or online order, exchanged for cash, or converted to a gift card.

What happens if I return my purchase?

Purchases made using the trade-in offer are eligible for returns in accordance with our standard return policy. If you return a qualifying purchase, the $100 trade-in credit will not be reissued or available for use on a future purchase. Your refund will reflect the amount you actually paid for the returned item.

Can I get my old suitcase back if I change my mind?

Once your suitcase has been traded in, it can't be returned to you. It enters our recycling or disposal process after your trade-in is complete. Please be sure to check the pockets before you part ways.

Can I use the $100 with another promotion?

No. The trade-in credit cannot be combined with other active promotions, including eligible military and bundle discounts. 

What if the Series 3 I want isn't in stock at my store?

If the item you want isn't available in the store, our team can help you place an order in-store and apply your $100 credit.

Is the Trade-In Event available in the UK and Canada?

Yes! The Trade-In Event is available at participating Away stores in the US, UK, and Canada with event dates varying by market and location.

The trade-in credit and qualifying purchase minimum vary by market:

  • US: $100 USD off a qualifying purchase of $325+
  • UK: £75 GBP off a qualifying purchase of £295+
  • Canada: $150 CAD off a qualifying purchase of $425 CAD+

The same basic offer applies in each market: bring in an eligible suitcase and receive the local trade-in credit toward a qualifying luggage purchase at the time of your trade-in.

What happens to my old suitcase?

Once you trade it in, you will leave it with us. Your suitcase will be recycled through our recycling program.
